Stadt Aufmöbeln

2024

What forms can street furniture take? How does it respond to places, environments, and what they have to offer? A bench is for sitting on—that is its purpose, what it was built for. But when placed in a public space, it can do much more. It enlivens squares, offers a place to rest, and leads to chance encounters. Yet it can also displace people, create boundaries, and restrict freedom of movement. "Stadt aufmöbeln" explores the untapped possibilities of street furniture. Collaborative interventions uncover these objects’ potential and spark ideas on how open spaces can be reclaimed.
