Magma ISFF 2024

2024

Magma is an international short film festival held annually in Acireale and Catania, Sicily. The festival presents a diverse selection of narrative, documentary, animation and experimental works from around the world, with a focus on films that are often overlooked by mainstream distribution. Along with the international short film competition the festival features the special section Insula – Impressioni di Sicilia, dedicated to stories connected to the island and its filmmakers, a DEBUT section dedicated to debutting feature films and Eksperimenta dedicated to videoart and experimental works. Each edition concludes with the awarding of the Lorenzo Vecchio Award, in memory of the festival’s founder. Over the years, Magma has become one of Italy’s most recognized festivals for short-form cinema, celebrating creativity, new voices, and the expressive power of short film.

Since 2021, the festival commissions an illustrator to develop the edition image of the festival which is then translated in all print and digital formats.
